I love the guy, and his candidacy and win was amazing for this country and as a fulfillment of the great promise of democracy… but this has been nagging at me for a while. Many before me have already pointed out that the Carbonfund logo, which preceded the Obama campaign logo, was nearly identical in design. But then this weekend I rode past a car with an old-school USA Waterpolo sticker (design image also below), and thought “…so that’s where I originally saw that design…”. I found more than one or two folks via the big G who noticed the US Waterpolo similarities previously and called it out as well. And even though the Obama campaign logo designer didn’t cop to any “inspiration” in his NYTimes interview here, several follow-on commenters called out these comparisons in the thread.
